So far, though, efforts haven’t paid off.Like fans, star Tim Allen, was shocked to see the show get the ax. If we’ve learned one thing in recent years, it is that cancellations aren’t necessarily forever.[via: Deadline] Posted May 17, 2017 by Stephanie Topacio LongThe last week has been an emotional roller coaster for “Last Man Standing” fans. The show’s fan base had their hopes dashed Wednesday when it was reported that Fox had opted not to save the beloved sitcom ABC canceled earlier this month. The network had seemed like a good fit, especially since the sitcom is produced by 20th Century Fox TV.The future of “Last Man Standing” may not appear so bright right now, but you never know what will happen. Fox’s decision likely won’t be received much better. One fan even launched a petition to that end, and it has garnered nearly 270,000 signatures at the time of this writing. Fox was said to be “seriously” considering the idea, according to Deadline, but ultimately passed. The show’s prospects have been looking dismal since the cancellation, but fans had hoped their outcry would either change ABC’s mind or inspire another network to swoop in and save the show. As he tweeted in the aftermath of its cancellation, he was “stunned and blindsided” by the news.

The preview places the latest addition to the long-standing franchise in context, bringing us back to 10 years before Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock explored the galaxy aboard the Enterprise. Posted May 17, 2017 by Stephanie Topacio LongCBS is ready to show off “Star Trek: Discovery” at last. The network gave Trekkies what they’ve been waiting for Wednesday: the first official trailer for the upcoming series. We’ll see how “Star Trek: Discovery” compares when it premieres this fall. There are Klingons, Vulcans, dangerous-looking missions, and cutting-edge technology that looks suspiciously like a flip phone. The series has a grand tradition to live up to. As such, we meet several new characters, including budding leader Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and her apparent mentor, Captain Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh). In addition to making introductions, the trailer shows off many elements of the series Trekkies will appreciate. The original “Star Trek” premiered in 1966 and has spawned numerous shows, films, books, and more in the years since.

Posted May 17, 2017 by Stephanie Topacio LongIt’s a good day to be a Trekkie.Fresh off of giving us the first “Star Trek: Discovery” photo (above), CBS has revealed news that fans will find just as exciting: We’re getting more episodes of the upcoming series, plus a companion show. The network has upped the “Star Trek: Discovery” order to 15 episodes, as CBS announced during an upfront presentation Wednesday, according to Deadline. On top of that, CBS All Access will stream “Talking Trek,” a series that presumably will delve deeper into all things “Discovery.” Suddenly, the delays we’ve been subjected to don’t seem so bad — not when we have more to look forward to.”Discovery” was initially expected to premiere in early 2017, but its debut was pushed to allow enough time for the show to be made in a way that will do the famed franchise justice. Now, if only it could just come quicker…[via: Deadline] The sixth episode is currently being filmed, and we’re looking at a fall premiere date. That means we’re getting two more episodes than originally planned.

“I almost did it to minimize him. I didn’t think that would be a compliment: ‘He did the thing that we all wanted to do.'”While Fallon is a people pleaser, he also doesn’t want to pander to public whims. If there’s one bad thing on Twitter about me, it will make me upset,” he said. Fallon said, explaining this moment to me. I was just trying to have fun.”Since taking over “The Tonight Show,” Fallon has emphasized “fun” over pointed political commentary. I didn’t mean anything by it. “So, after this happened, I was devastated. “Just because some people bash me on Twitter, it’s not going to change my humor or my show.” “I don’t want to be bullied into not being me, and not doing what I think is funny,”he said. Posted May 17, 2017 by Kelly WooGood ratings and buzz are to be had by comedians making fun of President Donald Trump — exhibit A: “Saturday Night Live.” But Jimmy Fallon is experiencing the flipside of that after a much-criticized, “softball” interview he conducted with the then-candidate last September.”The Tonight Show” has fallen behind Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” in the ratings (Colbert, who has been excoriating Trump recently, is exhibit B). And Fallon has finally opened up to the New York Times about the backlash he faced after Trump’s appearance, particularly over Fallon ruffling Trump’s hair.”I’m a people pleaser. I didn’t do it to humanize him,” Mr. Celebrity interviews usually include some kind of game, like “Lip Sync Battle.” But in the era of Trump, even the middle ground is seemingly dangerous territory, and Fallon acknowledged that people “have a right to be mad.”Still, he defended the hair-ruffling moment.
